Simple

A simple design means that your bike is built cost-effectively and is easy to maintain. It also means the bike is not obnoxiously plastered with some company's logo. Matte black has always been our most popular color — if you’re locking up outside, you don’t necessarily want the most eye catching bike in this city! (But if you do, we’ve definitely got you covered.)

The shop has been designed and organized to make the process of buying a biking as simple and straightforward as possible. All the decisions about the bike are broken down into separate stations where the options are laid out very clearly, in a way that is easy to process.

Personalized

We offer five handlebar options to cater to the riding styles of just about everyone: whether you're a casual weekend cruiser, a daily bridge commuter or a full-time courier. In addition to these options, the quill handlebar stem is vertically adjustable by 4 inches to further satisfy aggressive or laid back riding preferences. The bikes come in your choice of single, 3 speed or 7 speed, each of which you can test ride on the streets before you buy to see which one feels right for you.

Every bike comes with your choice of saddle, and each saddle can be test ridden with any bike.

Affordable

By cutting out all the middle men, I'm able to keep costs down and pass on the savings to you, the cyclist! I've designed the bikes to be affordable, but I've done just as much work to design an efficient system to get the bikes from the factory into your hands, without sacrificing quality or the ability to personalize your bike.

Reliable

Over the past 5 years, I've sold over 1,000 of these bikes here in Brooklyn. Very few have come back with any warranty issues. I take quality control seriously, and I take pride in designing and building my bikes.

All TBT bikes are guaranteed to be free of any manufacturing or assembly errors. Our steel frames are built to last and are backed by a 5 year warranty. All bikes come with a 90 day warranty covering defects and minor adjustments of all components.

Low Maintenance

Single speeds have the minimal amount of moving parts necessary, and thus less parts to break or need replacing or maintenance.

Our 3 speeds and 7 speeds feature internal gears, which are great for city / commuter bikes, and have many advantages that are worth much more than the small, additional upfront cost. The gears are completely enclosed inside the hub of the rear wheel, and never get mucked up with dirt. This dirt slows down the drivetrain, wears the components faster, and requires additional maintenance just to clean.

With internal gears, there are no derailleurs, meaning a clean, aesthetically simple chain line, and no chance that someone will bang into your derailleur while you're parked and render your bike unrideable until it’s replaced. It also means that your chain will not fall off if you switch gears incorrectly.

Professionally Fit

It's so important that your bike fits you well.

Before you buy a bike, I want to make sure that it fits you. A bike that fits just right means that you will enjoy the ride more, and you’ll be able to ride farther, faster, more comfortably with less chance of injury. There's more to it than just raising the seat to a good height!

Traditional bike fitting is mostly only done for competitive cycling. It's too expensive for people just looking to get around the city, because of how time consuming and complicated the fitting process is.

I've found a way to hack the bike fitting experience, making it practical and affordable for commuters buying a new bike. (The fitting is free whether you buy a bike or not.) By starting with a simple frame that is highly adjustable, I can mock up a variety of seats and handlebars onto the frame, so that you can physically test out all the options on a trainer (a stationary bike). The process is lightning fast and gives you the ability to pedal on the exact bike you will be purchasing without even worrying about traffic. And of course you can also test ride outside to feel the bike on the road.
